The following words describes my three books, which all together forms The Back to Love Series Trilogy. Through these three works, Denise traces the sacred transformative arc of healing, becoming and evolving:
I am a UK- based BACP-accredited therapist with over 39 years of experience supporting people from all walks of life who are struggling with the many facets of the human condition.
I am also clinical supervisor, and the author of the Back to Love series trilogy.
My work is rooted in attending to the unseen and unheard inner child within whose stories, bodies, and voices have been suppressed, silenced, or misunderstood.
I support the return home to Self: to heal what hurt, to grieve what was lost, and to reclaim identity, voice, worth, body, softness, and possibility.

"The Ghanaian Sankofa Bird, which symbolises - a journey of return, renewal, and soulful awakening — calling us, personally and collectively, to gather what was left behind, embrace truth, and awaken the depth of our inner lives so our outer lives may truly progress."
My work is born from my own lived experience of healing and recovery from adverse childhood experiences. I know how trauma shapes the nervous system, the imagination, the voice, and the belief in one’s own worth. And as a Black woman I also know the resilience, brilliance, and ancestral strength carried — alongside the exhaustion, isolation, and inherited wounds that misogynoir and trauma leave behind.
This makes my work deeply personal, spiritual, liberatory, and celebratory. I don’t simply work with “symptoms” — I work with the stories, silences, soils, and systems that shape. I see symptoms as expressions of burdens needing expression and being compassionately witnessed.
My work includes helping clients heal from childhood trauma, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), addictions, anxiety, depression, sexual violence, workplace trauma, and identity confusion, among other concerns.
Whatever brings you to therapy, my approach is grounded in a deep passion for self-transformation and for helping you live the most authentic and fulfilling life possible.
Through the therapeutic experience, you can expect to feel safe, heard, and never judged — and to be encouraged to become, unapologetically, your authentic self.
Through the transformative therapeutic process, you’ll gain insight into your personal and relational patterns, develop greater self-awareness and compassion, and begin to practice more self-soothing and life-affirming ways of being, loving, and coping.
My integrative therapeutic approach also supports those seeking to rediscover meaning, purpose, and joy, and to bring long-held dreams into reality.
My practice is social-justice informed, acknowledging the impact of systemic and intergenerational trauma, particularly for Black people and marginalised communities.
